Accommodation

Student Republic Dormitories

$387/3-bed dormitory

At the dormitories, PSP students are housed together in 3-bed rooms in an apartment with a simple kitchen and bathroom. There is a washing machine in the basement. The rooms have old wooden flooring and large French windows. They are located in the center, a 15-minute walk from the workshop venue. Nearby you will find everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Please note that the apartments may be located in upper floors (there are 7 in total) and that there is no elevator. Please also take into consideration that there are no air conditioners in the apartments.

Private Accomodation

Students are free to find their own accomodation through services like Booking.com, Airbnb.com or Flatio.com.

We recommend the Vinohrady and Albertov neighborhoods. They are close to the center but local and cozy.

Traveling to Prague

Central European weather can be protean, hot and muggy one day, cool and rainy the next. One should be prepared for both extremes.

All you’ll really need is:

  • Summer clothes that anticipate cooler weather: shorts, light dresses, and even a swimsuit on the one hand but also long pants, a sweatshirt or sweater, and light coat.

  • Walking shoes and a backpack for comfortably moving about town.

  • A collapsible umbrella or raincoat

If you are non-EU based:

  • Bring a plug converter for European countries

  • Talk to your phone service provider about data roaming. With newer phones you can get an eSIM.

  • A credit or debit card which will allow you to withdraw money from ATMs abroad i.e. make sure to let your bank know you will be traveling!

  • Do not bring cash. You can pay directly by card in most places and there are also ATMs. Remember to choose “pay without conversion” when the card reader offers the option.

WHAT TO PACK

GETTING FROM THE AIRPORT

Public Transport from the Airport

Public transport is very intuitive and clear in Prague. A typical connection from the airport involves taking the trolley bus 59 to Nádraží Veleslavín and then continuing on to further connections by Metro A.

  • follow the signs leading to the bus stop

  • buy a ticket for 30 minutes, 90 minutes or 24 hours at a ticket machine and validate it before getting on the bus or buy the ticket inside the bus with a contactless credit card

  • the terminus is the nearest metro station Nádraží Veleslavín

Remember, you will receive a public transport pass at orientation that will be valid throughout the program.

Uber or Bolt fron the Airport

We defintely recommend using one of these applications instead of taxis which are much more expensive and often rip-offs.
